Michael Carrier
Founder & Head Producer

Michael founded TOWER5 in 2023, fulfilling his lifelong dream of making films.

His journey up to that point took him around the world. He started in film, attending film school at Loyola Marymount in Los Angeles, and fell in love with the Japanese cinema. He then studied economics in Japan at Nagoya University, and went on to work in automotive and technology for the next decade in Tokyo. He supported Kowa's expansion of export sales of press line automation, and led Electronic Data System's launch of e-business in Japan.

He spent the next 16 years in Silicon Valley, helping to launch, grow and transform technology businesses. He consolidated Hewlett Packard's media and entertainment businesses into one division, spearheaded GlobalLogic's entry into digital transformation, and led the expansion of GlobalLogic's private equity practice in diversified industries.

His life came full circle when Hitachi acquired GlobalLogic in 2021, bringing him back to Japan to co-lead Hitachi's private equity practice.

This transaction allowed him to focus on filmmaking full-time. It was an opportunity to apply everything he had learned in international business, technology and entertainment.

Today, Michael is an advisor at the Entertainment Technology Center in Los Angeles and guest writer for Asian Movie Pulse.

He holds a bachelor's degree from Loyola Marymount University and an MBA from the University of California at Los Angeles. He completed executive education at Harvard Business School and MIT Sloan.
